Job Description:
Secure Mission Solutions has an immediate need for a Red
Hat Linux Engineer.

The successful candidate will:
  • Be required to coordinate with customers and members
of the team to support development efforts
  • Be responsible for the administration of advanced
RedHat Linux systems in an operational environment
including installation, configuration, and maintenance
of RedHat Linux OS on both stand alone and virtual
machines (VMware)
  • Work with the team to plan, design, and perform a
variety of systems administration and operational
support services for Linux servers in a network
supporting an operational enterprise environment
  • Support the Linux team that maintains data files and
control procedures for a complex system of networked
computers
  • Be responsible for system security and data integrity
and will work with the Certification and Accreditation
team to ensure security and FISMA compliance
  • Perform system HW/SW upgrades, evaluate and install
patches and resolve system problems and will maintain
and monitor system configuration to ensure integrity
  • Provide guidance to lesser-experienced systems
administrators

Required Experience:
  • Superior problem solving abilities and demonstrated
experience in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
demonstrated by experience developing and executing test
plans and operating procedures, contributing to
technical manuals, and preparing/maintaining network
diagrams
  • Experience building, installing and maintaining
systems in a networked environment; installing and
configuring a variety of Linux applications and
databases; and, maintaining systems in conformance with
configuration management baselines
  • Hands-on experience on mid-range Linux OS servers in a
NAS/SAN environment and experience with Bind 9 and
Sendmail
  • Knowledge of VMware, Windows Server, and Client OS is
desired
  • Independent work under limited supervision or as part
of a team, and ability to train or mentor other
personnel
  • Three plus years configuring/troubleshooting Linux
systems
  • Minimum DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II certification
requirements must be met and maintained

Education Requirements:
  • B.S. in IT, Computer Science (or related field)
preferred, with 2+ years in a technical capacity or 5+
years of professional experience with 3+ years in a
technical engineering capacity.
