This position requires the ability to provide legal and non-legal research assistance as requested and guidance on reference materials as requested.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Perform research as requested.
1.1 Respond to attorney/scientist/staff reference requests in a timely manner utilizing print and electronic resources.
1.2 Knowledge of information networks such as BNA, CCH, Dialog, Dun & Bradstreet, OCLC, Thomson Innovation, Westlaw and others.
1.3 Arrange interlibrary loans with local law firms, and public and institutional libraries.
1.4 Ability to analyze usage and cost-effectiveness of electronic research service to practice groups.
1.5 Maintain a high level of customer service and assure satisfaction in response to all the above requests.

2. Record all billable time into billing system.
2.1 Ensure billing deadlines are met timely.
2.2 Ensure all reference requests are properly recorded and billed.

3. Provide training.
3.1 Provide instruction on the effective use of reference materials.
3.2 Provide orientation to incoming attorneys, scientists and staff as requested,
3.3 Coordinate and continue training and development of library users.
3.4 Respond to user related questions and inquiries.

4. Collection development.
4.1 Research, evaluate and recommend new resources and technologies to further service the needs of the library users.
4.2 Actively look for opportunities to support reference department collections and services.
4.3 Participate in professional groups, listservs, and other means of communication and learning with other librarians.

5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
5.1 Participate in long range planning for the library as requested.
5.2 Attend monthly meetings of the library staff and participate as required.

1. Position requires a wide range of research, analytical and writing skills.
2. Requires initiative, ability to organize and prioritize, and strong interpersonal skills.
3. Knowledge and experience in a library or law firm setting is required.
4. Familiarity with intellectual property law, Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, Delphion, Dialog and the use of other internet applications is desired, as well as the ability to be flexible and adaptable while working with changing technologies.
5. Must meet minimum testing requirements.
6. Ability to use office equipment.
7. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.

Education and Experience:
Master of Library Science degree preferred but not required. Previous legal research experience required. Seeking person with superior research and communication skills.
