The Refrigeration Technician will oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring and maintenance of our industrial ammonia refrigeration system, as well as being responsible for the repair and maintenance of all areas pertaining to the upkeep and efficient operation of all refrigeration, chiller, cooling and freezing systems.
Daily/Position Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
-Provide 24 hour refrigeration service; including monitoring, troubleshooting and repair of the ammonia system. Including upkeep and efficient operation of all systems (compressors, condensers, fans, pumps, spiral chillers, spiral freezers and all other cooling and freezing systems).
-Work on preventive maintenance programs to help improve performance, reduce refrigerant loss, and control expenses.
-Respond to emergency calls during regular and off working hours.
-Monitor system to ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
-Conduct required inspections and reporting through temperature monitoring and control.
-Provide documentation for EPA compliance records as well as supporting the PSM program.
-Assist in managing outside mechanical and refrigeration contractors conducting service, repair and new contract work.
Candidate will be detailed oriented with above average organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment while displaying tact and diplomacy with peers and management alike in order to achieve goals. Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds on a regular basis, as well as regularly being exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
-Refrigeration Certification required, other mechanical certificates preferred (electrical licenses, WW treatment licenses, boiler certificate).
-One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
