In this newly created role, the Regional Access Director will play a key commercial role in the support of patients and our oncology business. Reporting to the National Access Director, Health Systems & Patient Services, the individual will be responsible for two critical areas; Patient Access and Reimbursement, including strategy and implementing tactical programs that align with AVEO’s commercial plan.


Key responsibilities include execution of our patient access support strategy and ensuring appropriate reimbursement for national / regional commercial and public payers. Individual will maximize reimbursement and formulary access for AVEO Oncology products within their respective region. Each Regional Access Director will be responsible for managing day-to-day activities within their assigned region. Working with physician and payer accounts, the Regional Access Director will serve as the primary liaison for all patient access and reimbursement support for the field sales team. This role will monitor Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurer activities in order to develop and implement strategic account plans in response to the changing reimbursement environment.

Other duties include:
Secure and maintain favorable access for AVEO product, and build long-term relationships with payers and payer influencers within a regional area as well support advocacy efforts. Responsible for close integration with the field sales team ensuring that reimbursement for AVEO product occurs smoothlyy, without detriment to patient access. Responsible for strategic account plans, for allocating resources that address local needs while achieving national brand goals. Identify opportunities to appropriately position AVEO product with large provider groups and commercial payers utilizing developed value propositions, messaging and marketing materials or economic based tools. Collaborate and partner strategically with Health Systems and Patient Services leadership. Understand policy trends among federal, state and commercial payers as well as the landscape of health care delivery both nationally and regionally. Educate, train and support field sales teams on regional reimbursement issues that impact local market performance and provide actionable direction through business planning and communications.


The individual must have a solid understanding and established relationships within key business areas of patient access and reimbursement. Ideally individual will have established key contacts at the national and regional level. The person will need to demonstrate excellent skills, exhibit superior communication and teamwork and must have recent experience launching new products in the specialty/biotechnology space.

Additional qualifications include:
BA/BS required 10 years + in pharmaceutical industry with 5 + years of payer account management and/or provider reimbursement experience; Oncology or Specialty Business experience preferred. Previous field leadership experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge on topics pertaining to health policy, pharmaceutical reimbursement (oral and IV), managed care, distribution, health outcomes, patient access/financial support programs. Excellent clinical, financial, analytical and negotiation skills. Candidate must be able to act decisively in an uncertain environment. Executive presence and ability to simply communicate complex concepts. Demonstrated ability in working cross-functionally with both field and home office personnel.
