Greeley, CO JOB SUMMARY

The Regional Shop & Fleet Manager is an exempt position that reports primarily to the Branch Manager, with additional reporting responsibilities to the Region Manager and the US Maintenance Director.

The Regional Shop & Fleet Manager will be responsible for all aspects of a shop facility including its building, grounds, equipment, personnel, revenue and margin along with all aspects of equipment repair cost per mile, utilization and disposal process assigned to the Branch. Additionally, Regional Shop & Fleet Manager is to provide a layer of leadership to National Tank Service (NTS) operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES – REGIONAL SHOP & FLEET MANAGER

People
• Ensure the mechanics have proper instruction and procedures to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
• Respond to all concerns and act on them promptly as they relate to:
o Safety
o Mechanics abilities to perform his/her duties effectively
o Opportunities that would increase efficiency for both the Company and the customer
o Maintenance procedures and equipment needs
Shop Facilities
• Assist with development for Shop appearance standards to include efficient use of shop bays and cleanliness.
• TMT Process Discipline – Support and drive initiatives that enhance:
1. Closure of repair orders and invoices
2. Inventory control (NO Usage trend greater than 12 months)
3. Proper use of Shop Planner
4. Warranty Repair Order and Vendor Repair Order guidance
• Assist with development of proper staffing levels for a minimum of 50% capacity utilization at all shops, and hours of operation that keep pace with Fleet and Commercial needs.
• Support mechanic development initiatives associated with Success ladders.
• Assist efforts to improve margin initiatives (critical few) for shops by reducing indirect labor hours, and billing of 85% of total hours paid.
• Assist with solicitation and development of new commercial maintenance revenue and shop business.
• Manage existing commercial customers to ensure shops are consistently meeting requirements. Communicate any problems associated with service to the Branch Manager with recommendations for improvements.
• Participate with market evaluations to ensure NTS remains competitive with market rates.
• Evaluate daily capacities and thru-puts on shop to determine any areas of improvement in efficiencies concerning cleaning processes and procedures.
• Track and maintain inventory
• Track shop revenue numbers compared to plan and goals.
Non Shop Facilities
• TMT Process Discipline – Support and drive initiatives that enhance:
1. Closure of Vendor Repair Orders and Purchase Orders
2. Warranty recovery guidance (VENDOR REPAIR ORDER process)
Fleet Equipment
• Provide effective and efficient Fleet Maintenance solutions to achieve budgeted maintenance cost.(reduce tractor/trailer repair c/pm)
• Drive efforts for providing safe and reliable equipment in a timely manner.
• Assist efforts to improve warranty recovery through the identification and development of processes that maximize recovery dollars.
• Support disposal of company owned assets in a manner that will be most beneficial to the company. This includes the expedient sale of these assets while realizing maximum financial gain.
• Ensure NTS support equipment (Forklifts, shop trucks, yard tractors) are maintained and branded to expectations.
• Maintain equipment according to company guidelines, along with Federal agency guidelines.
• Track and maintain inventory
In accordance with current Operating Standards, Company Policies and Procedures and in the best interests of the Company its customers, contractors, employees and the Public, the Regional Shop & Fleet Manager’s responsibilities also include:
Customer Service
• Ensure the shop meet all customer requirements and any changes are communicated immediately.
• Service failure reports are recorded and brought to the attention of the Branch Manager or designate.
• Utilize sales report form to report commercial sales activity to the Branch Manager.
Safety and Regulatory
• Ensure all shop equipment meets regulatory and corporate compliance.
• Assist in ensuring processes allow mechanics to complete their duties in a safe manner.
• Assist in ensuring safety equipment is available and in use by employees at all required times.
Authority
• Maintain process control and respond to needed or required changes as they occur.
• Maintain and control environmental regulations and report discrepancies to Branch Management.
• Maintain control of disposal activity with all wastes generated by the facility.
SKILLS
Five to seven years of related experience and/or training
• Good knowledge of maintenance and tank wash industry
• Experience in bulk and/or hazardous commodities is desirable
• Advanced communication and managerial skills
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Experience in computerized environment
• Good sales and customer development skills
• Understanding of marketing services
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory: High School Diploma

Preferred: Associates/Bachelors Degree

Relevant experience from previous jobs that would be required before entering this job, including time spent in formal apprenticeships.
