Regional Vice President – Oncology Services

Sarah Cannon Cancer Services has an immediate need for a Regional VP of Oncology Services in Dallas, TX. This position is responsible for developing and implementing an oncology service line business plan for our North Texas Division which consists of 10 hospitals and 1 psychiatric facility. This plan strives to meet the needs of the cancer patient during the entire continuum of care, driving profitable oncology service line growth, and improving operations in terms of quality and processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direction and support for the on-going development of a comprehensive oncology service line for the Division. In partnership with key division personnel, hospital administrative teams and physicians, conceives and develops strategy, promotes operational standards, and ensures that cancer services are coordinated across the division.
Ensures that the strategies, priorities and operations of all facilities are aligned and complementary, ensuring a system approach to oncology services within the Division.
Identifies and documents oncology best demonstrated practices from across the company, group, or Division and facilitates the communication of these BDP’s to Division facilities.
Collaborates with decision support and IT to develop tracking and reporting mechanisms to monitor the progression of oncology service line development across the Division.
Assists with physician recruitment activities for the oncology service line within the Division.
Represents the oncology division/facility by membership in related professional and community associations. Supports community projects and agencies.
Assists the facilities with the assessment of patient and staff education needs in regards to oncology services.
Attends medical staff meetings and/or medical staff committee meetings as assigned or requested. Informs appropriate Division/facility personnel of proceedings at meetings attended and recommends action, as necessary.
Collaborates with physicians to develop and foster positive working relationships.
Engages national, division, and facility oncology service line leaders, quality, physician sales, managed care, and supply chain to plan for emerging trends in terms of clinical protocols, technology, reimbursement, medical management, and supply utilization.
Manages oncology service line development, implementation and management activities, including:

  • Facilitation of the planning process and implementation activities with Division and facility leadership
  • Participation in the annual budgeting process
  • Improvement of oncology service line profitability (e.g., cost structure)
  • Assistance with the facilities’ evaluation and purchase of diagnostic and treatment equipment, ensuring equipment standardization and “best pricing opportunity”
  • Monitoring and ensuring oncology service line quality (e.g., clinical outcomes, credentialing/privileging, processes, services, satisfaction) aligns to division/market and national quality standards and best demonstrated practices
  • Oncology Service Line Specific Performance Metrics
  • Market share stabilization/growth
  • Net revenue & volume growth
  • Contribution and EBDITA Margins (Service Line P&Ls)
  • Quality & Process Indicators (e.g., core measures)
  • Successful service line development and implementation
  • Physician Retention and Loyalty rates
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or other Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years partner management, strategy or corporate development experience, including solid history of relationship growth success within a hospital and/or integrated healthcare system is required
  • Multi-site management and experience within a matrix organization required
  • Recent and solid experience within the Oncology field required; experience as an Oncology administrator or associate administrator within a hospital setting highly preferred
