· Graduate of an approved school of nursing, required.

· Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Colorado, required.

· Two years experience in nursing, with one of the two years in a geriatric, restorative or rehabilitative nursing environment, preferred.

· BCLS Certification is required or obtained within 3 months of employment, required.

This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing. This position is supervisory in nature and is also responsible for nursing care and administering medications and treatments according to physician’s orders. This position would be responsible for routine supervision of nursing staff and give direction as needed. In performance of duties, the RN is entrusted with the c oordination and monitoring of resident care services provided on a daily basis . Assistance and supervision of licensed nursing staff as well as CNA’s to ensure optimal resident outcomes . Assistance to the Director of Nursing in projects that have to do with quality of care, therapeutic environment, documentation, or regulatory compliance . Observes and evaluates residents’ medical, mental and emotional conditions and communicates significant changes to the appropriate staff.

This position requires good general nursing skills and proficiency in rehabilitative nursing. Must also be able to enlist the cooperation of unit personnel and personnel in other departments. The capacity to maintain good professional relationships with physicians and to relate with residents and their families is necessary. The ability to understand and show compassion to senior adults is essential. Good observation and assessment skills are required. This position requires the ability to treat patient information confidentially. This position requires availability on weekends and holidays, or on shifts other than the one for which hired. It may also require work beyond normal working hours as needs arise.
