Must be 18 years or older.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
1-2 years prior experience, preferably in customer service or heath care, required.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to type 40 WPM required.
Basic computer skills required

Ability to work in all patient registration areas including the Atrium and Emergency Services

Ability to have conversations regarding collection of copays and coinsurance and to successfully collect at point of service on a regular basis.
Ability to build excellent reciprocal customer relationships with patients, staff, family and all ancillary departments served.

Ability to remain calm and courteous while working under stressful situations.

Able to carry and lift objects up to 25 pounds and push/pull supply carts, gurneys, and/or wheelchairs weighing in excess of 200 pounds on occasion.
Must be able to use a keyboard and video display terminal to enter, receive, retrieve, transform words or data and/or audit information and data continuously.
Must have normal or corrected vision in order to read the necessary materials and charts, including physician's orders for outpatient tests.
Responsible for receiving initial pre-registration information from the patient, physician or physician's office. Staff is responsible for greeting and pre registering/registering infant/toddler, child/adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients in a pleasant, courteous and caring manner. Complies with all standards set for by state, federal and local law and other regulatory agencies. Is held accountable for compliance with all Advocate Bromenn policies and procedures, particularly those dealing with discriminatory acts. Displays the philosophy and values of the organization through daily behavior. Puts the mission statement into practice.
1. Responsible for complete and timely revenue collection for assigned group(s) via accurate entry of patient information (i.e., demographics) into registration system.
2. Continually looks for ways to effectively use time and resources to deliver quality outcomes.
3. Performs reception duties in each registration area
4. Takes responsibility for maintaining compliance with all internal policies, as well as all external regulatory agency standards.
5. Staff is responsible for job tasks, appearing professional, following policy, being reliable and interacting with integrity and honesty.
