The primary purpose of this job is to greet and register patients presenting to the Lab and Imaging Center, obtaining accurate insurance and demographic information. Registrar is responsible to verify eligibility and patients financial obligations as well to collect required co-payment, co-insurance and/or deductible if applicable. Registrar will be able to fully interview patient to initiate Pre-Registration and research websites for financial and precert information. If required, will complete precert requirements. In accordance with physician script accurately enters and activates outpatient exam orders in computer scheduling system. Follow scheduling protocols and consult with technologist/radiologist to ensure appropriate exam is scheduled as well as inform patients of procedure preparations. This position is located at the SMC Laboratory and Radiology Services at Dunellen office.
High school diploma or GED with two or more years of job related or clinical experience. Administrative skills including typing and word processing and proficiency with computerized scheduling system. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with employees, patients, visitors and health care professionals. Must have superior customer service and organizational skills. Bi-lingual preferred. Must be able to type 40wpm.
