As a member of the Spelman College Enrollment Management team, the Registrar provides strategic leadership in meeting the College's enrollment goals. Serving the diverse and multifaceted needs of the campus, the Registrar is responsible for developing a student-centered approach to student records with an emphasis on providing exemplary service to all constituents at all times. Further, the Registrar must work closely with and remain sensitive to the needs of faculty. In all work, there is an expectation of collaboration across the campus and an ability to use data in the decision-making process. The Registrar is responsible for the management of registration functions including course scheduling, certification of candidates for degrees, the student database, and the maintenance of student records. The Registrar must have excellent query and reporting skills along with an ability to manage student data, access data as needed for internal and external reports, and ensure data integrity. The Registrar is responsible for the maintenance, accuracy, and security of the permanent academic records of current and former Spelman College students; is the Spelman College official responsible for FERPA compliance regarding student records; serves student enrollment needs through the timely scheduling of classes, collection and posting of grades, and confirmation of the completion of graduation requirements; interprets academic policies; and provides guidance and oversight to maintain the professional integrity of the office. The Registrar provides vision, leadership, supervision, and professional development for office staff, and maintains a high degree of contact with Spelman College stakeholders including faculty, administration, institutional research, technology user groups, students, and a wide variety of committees. The Registrar oversees a staff of 7 with 2 direct reports.

Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a comprehensive Registrar's Office. The successful candidate must also demonstrate the ability to establish positive, productive, and collaborative working relationships with students, administration, and faculty; manage circumstances that require negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills; have a service-oriented leadership style; develop strategic plans founded on institutional enrollment goals, registration activities, data collection and dissemination needs, records confidentiality, and degree audit protocols; possess strong technical and analytical skills; be able to harness the skills and abilities of the staff to increase operational efficacy and customer service; demonstrate competency with student information systems (Spelman College uses Banner); demonstrate a working knowledge of computer hardware/software and current database structures such as Resource 25, DegreeWorks, and document imaging software; have a clear understanding of report writing and analysis, strategic planning and budgets, and regulations related to student records; recommend and administer enhanced technology applications to improve processing systems and data integrity; assure quality of testing and implementation of system updates/upgrades; as a member of the Enrollment Management team, provide strategic leadership in advancing enrollment goals; oversee a wide array of enrollment and retention initiatives and special projects; assess outcomes and formulate responses to meet established goals and objectives; present performance results data to facilitate executive decision-making; ensure that reporting requirements are completed in a timely and accurate manner to fulfill various legal obligations; and maintain accountability for audits and required record keeping. The Registrar is expected to demonstrate good organizational skills with the ability to work independently, think creatively, take initiative, and use sound judgment under pressure. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
