The Registrar is responsible for the custody, integrity, and appropriate confidentiality of student and institutional records; the administration of examinations; the administration of registration policies and procedures; the publication and administration of the curriculum; and the management and operation of the Registrar’s Office for all aspects of the JD program, the Graduate Tax Program, and distance learning programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage all aspects of the Law School Registrar’s Office
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement procedures and policies; Confer with students and administration regarding interpretation of current policies and procedures
  • Supervise, assign, and evaluate Registrar’s Office staff
  • Manage student registration for all aspects of the JD program, the Graduate Tax program, and distance learning programs, coordinating with appropriate departments as needed
  • Supervise the administration of examinations and the legal writing diagnostic test
  • Assemble, organize, record, verify, and disseminate data and information related to enrollment, curriculum, academic progress, grades, and bar pass rates
  • Perform audits each fall of third year law students to ensure compliance with graduation requirements
  • Generate and evaluate student academic transcripts and related records
  • Certify completion of graduation requirements and eligibility for bar examinations
  • Maintain integrity, accuracy, and security of confidential student academic records
  • Plan long term preservation and storage of permanent student and other law school records
  • Coordinate the compilation of time and room schedules for all law school and Graduate Tax Program classes
  • Direct and participate in the development of office computer systems; oversee troubleshooting of new and current systems. Supervise work of vendors and other consultants in support of departmental computer systems
  • Work with the main campus Registrar to coordinate general University policy-making in cross-registration and student record areas
  • Develop the content for the Registrar’s portion of the Law School website, including Graduate Tax Program registration information
  • As requested by the Associate Dean, provide faculty advisors with course schedule and graduation requirements for advisees
  • Work with ABA Questionnaire Coordinator to gather all data relevant to Registrar’s office required for annual questionnaire
  • As requested by the Dean, serve on law school and campus-wide committees
  • Represent the Law School at professional conferences and associations

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of professional graduate education, academic policy-making, and university governance
  • Broad management and long-term planning skills
  • Ability to effectively manage support staff
  • Extensive computer database management and development experience
  • Ability to work with computerized systems and technical personnel to achieve programmatic improvements
  • Ability to understand and perform statistical functions and analysis
  • Commitment to serve students, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to solve problems, excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues to accomplish law school-wide objectives
  • Ability to lead and make decisions in a pressured environment
  • Extreme attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Counseling and Human Relations, Student Personnel Services, Education Administration, or a related field
