The Engineering Controls Technology team is seeking an engineer that will be responsible for assuring product regulatory compliance to global directives. The engineer will be responsible for the on-site compliance efforts supporting the evaluation of GE Energy products. These products include high speed industrial controllers, I / O devices, networks, communication gateways, Human-Machine Interfaces, control processors and power conversion equipment.
The Engineer will also be responsible for working with global compliance, NPI, fulfillment, manufacturing and sourcing teams to ensure that the new and legacy products adhere to regulatory compliance standards and requirements. In addition, you will:
Be familiar with the test methods and standards that are applicable to our products
Provide regulatory interpretations and consultation as applicable
Develop strategies to meet product compliance regulations where challenges exist
Interact with regulatory agencies to negotiate testing cost and schedule on-site / off-site testing
Provide technical assistance / agency liaison interface for compliance issues during product development, application engineering and customer project execution
Assist in resolving manufacturing, design and field problems for regulatory compliance issues
Work with other businesses and Energy Regulatory Compliance teams to develop / support business wide regulatory compliance strategies
Maintain documentation control of compliance plans and certifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 7 years of regulatory compliance Engineering experience
Minimum of 4 years Project Management experience
NARTE (EMC) Certification
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time as required

Previous work experience at an expert or senior position level with responsibility for developing processes and applying knowledge of emissions and/or safety regulations and standards
Proven ability to work with 3rd party test agencies to achieve compliance certifications for both EMC and Safety
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse group of people
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to determine / Influence compliance direction
Team player with the ability to self-direct
Knowledge of internal EMC / safety test lab requirements according to ISO17025
Demonstrated EMC design and compliance problem solving capabilities
ATEX and IECEx test experience
Ability to develop and document a regulatory requirement framework for the business
