If the transcript is not attached to your application it will be considered an incomplete application*** This position serves a School caseload in Wilkes County Schools consisting of 5 high schools and other transition referrals. The position will be located in North Wilkesboro, NC. Selected applicant is accountable for the design and implementation of a comprehensive plan of vocational rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities. The incumbent will: evaluate diagnostic data to determine eligibility and needed services; develop a written plan of services in conjunction with the consumer; provide supportive counseling; monitor the consumer's progress; and work directly with community partners in order to enhance opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Duties and responsibilities for the Rehabilitation Counselor II are performed independently and based on the skills and abilities of the applicant and his/her completion of the internal requirements for this level. If no suitable candidates are found at the Rehabilitation Counselor II level, this position will be filled as a Rehabilitation Counselor I. Rehabilitation Counselor I is salary grade 68. The hiring range is: $35,761-$57,006. Duties and responsibilities as a Rehabilitation Counselor I are non-independent and supervised by the Unit Manager or designee.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of casework methodology and techniques of rehabilitation counseling. Knowledge of federal and state laws governing the delivery of rehabilitation services. Ability to interpret medical and psychological data in planning and developing rehabilitative services. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, family members, and various professional and specialty services involved in the rehabilitation process. Ability to analyze and integrate occupational and labor market data in a given geographical area. Ability to network and communicate effectively with area employers and community agencies through excellent verbal and written skills. Knowledge of the community, local job markets and community resources Preference will be given to applicants who have a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or Counseling.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Rehabilitation Counselor II : a Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling, counseling or a closely related human services field, (OR Certified Rehabilitation Counselor), AND one year of experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor I and successful completion of the agency’s examination requirements for independent counselor status. Rehabilitation Counselor I : a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling or a closely related human services field; or current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor by the Commission of Rehabilitation Counselor Certification. All degrees must be from an accredited educational institution.
