Sutter Care at Home is the home health care and hospice affiliate of Sutter Health, one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health care systems.
This position provides support to the admissions and field staffs by obtaining initial insurance verification and authorization to ensure services are reimbursable at the time of admission. Serves as a resource to Home Care Coordinators, Discharge planners, admissions and branch staff on reimbursement issues. Works with and other support staff assisting with the daily management of referrals.
Graduation from high school or the equivalent in education and experience in health care admissions or billing is preferred.
Previous experience is highly preferred working reimbursement issues and requesting medical authorizations with HMOs, PPOs, workers compensation, Medicare, Medi-Cal and Indemnity Insurance, Medical groups, and third-party administrative organizations with an understanding of their inter-relationships.
Must possess knowledge of medical terminology, HCPC, CPT and ICD Coding, coordination of benefits and insurance billing.
Excellent organizational skills, balance competing priorities and resolve conflicting time restraints while on every level with tact and candor.
Must be responsive to frequent interruptions and last minute changes. Must be detail oriented with
accurate data entry skills. Able to multi-task with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multi-line telephones and demonstrate strong customer service skills to both internal and external patrons. Must be able to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships. Type 50 wpm on CRT
