SUMMARY:
Team Leader responsible for US Life Insurance Companies reinsurance accounting and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coach, develop, mentor, and lead reinsurance team members
  • Management of daily, monthly, and quarterly reinsurance activity
o Allocate workloads to team members
o Review and approve reinsurance accounting journal entries and settlements
o Manage and review reinsurance reports and work products
o Plan and draft new reinsurance disclosures for financial reporting as needed
  • Manage the implementation of new reinsurance treaties and monitor actual to expected results
  • Review reinsurance quarterly GAAP analytics, including Schedule 6's
  • Support and respond to requests from reinsurers, State regulators, State examiners and external auditors, and review responses to audit and exam requests prepared by the reinsurance team members
  • Coordinate the completion of deliverables with multiple suppliers, internal and external to the business segment
  • Lead the development and establish of process for monthly GAAP and STAT reinsurance analytics
  • Manage Schedule S preparation to support statutory reporting
  • Lead and implement improvement projects related to financial reporting
Other Tasks/Duties
  • Interface and communicate with management and staff
  • Resolve ad hoc requests
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 7+ years experience in Accounting and Reporting
  • Financial analysis and reporting skills
  • Proven self-starter
  • Strong work ethic• Ability to work independently and effectively within time constraints
  • Problem solving skills
  • Proven record of going above responsibilities for betterment of the Company
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CPA and/MBA preferred
  • Reinsurance experience preferred
  • Prior Insurance or finance industry experience required
  • Oracle / OFA /Discoverer /TMI experience a plus
