The Release Engineer plays a key role on the Information Technology Release Engineering team by supporting implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting efforts of MFS information systems.
Principal Responsibilities :
Provides technical support to ensure the ongoing efficient and reliable operations of related MFS information systems, escalating more complex issues to a senior team member or manager.
Proactively develops and maintains knowledge of MFS information systems and their related components and makes recommendations to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, or security of these systems as appropriate.
Leverages technology to automate manual tasks, and seeks to improve efficiency wherever practicable and appropriate.
Enforces and maintains MFS information security controls, procedures, and standards. Aids in the development of controls, procedures and standards as required. Identifies inefficiencies and makes suggestions for process improvement.
Works with minimal supervision on less complex tasks or projects of basic to moderate complexity, receiving tasks and objectives from management or senior technical staff. Consults senior staff on more complex tasks and projects. Serves as a team member on more complex projects under management direction.
Tracks the progress of assigned tasks, and provides management with regular status reports with regard to progress. Proactively notifies management of issues that may impact MFS information systems or project objectives.
Employs the use of web technologies such as IBM Websphere and Portal, Apache, and IIS to administer web application servers.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
Three or more years of related information technology experience.
Developing subject matter knowledge in the field, with familiarity with other related information technologies.
Understanding of operating systems (UNIX, Linux, Windows).
A good understanding of Java classes, foundations and framework strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models.
Basic understanding of application source code management.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills; ability to work effectively under pressure.
Demonstrated ability to interact, build relationships and communicate well with members of the team and management.
