The ITIL Change - Release Manager is responsible for ongoing management and maintenance of the Development, QA and Production environments at Independent Health. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that the integrity of the development, QA, and production environments are protected by ensuring that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient handling of all changes affecting application/service integrity, availability, test, and releases.

The ITIL Change - Release Manager will ensure the efficient facilitation of these changes while maintaining the proper balance between the need for change and the potential detrimental impact to the Independent Health production and QA environments. The Change – Release Manager will also be responsible for auditing and evaluating the change and release management processes of application and system implementations as well as lead communication planning and activities. Articulate functional and process changes while working closely with key stakeholders. Ensure that the overall results of changes and deployments meet customer satisfaction.

Overtime and holiday work are required and a condition of employment.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Sciences; or equivalent in experience and education is preferred.

  • Minimum of five years of software and infrastructure project management and coordination including formal methodologies associated with Change Management and Release Management.

  • Must possess a deep knowledge of one or more of the following: change management, configuration management or release management.

  • Working knowledge of ITIL and/or COBIT service management frameworks preferred.

  • Collaborate with development, QA and UAT teams on design of release management planning, installation, configuration, and deployment processes

  • Collaborate with other departments to develop Release Calendar

  • Propose potential process improvement to the application installation processes

  • Possess excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.

  • Adaptability and flexibility as we identify best practice over time.

  • Strong process and control-based activity knowledge.

  • Ability to work with multiple vendors to complete projects.

  • Strong conflict management and Relationship management skills: ability to communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills; understanding of project management best practices.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of health care business is preferred.

  • Maintains confidentiality and uses only the minimum amount of protected health information (PHI) necessary to accomplish job related responsibilities.
