Cargill Corn Milling North America is a manufacturer of value-added corn and sugar based products serving the Food, Feed and Fermentation segments. From facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas, we provide a wide variety of products and services including high fructose corn syrup, corn syrups, dextrose syrups and sucrose that are used in an array of beverage, brewing, confectionery, food and pharmaceutical applications. We also produce a variety of innovative, dry corn ingredients that are used in cereals, snacks, breads, tortillas and animal feed applications. In addition, we produce fuel-grade ethanol and are a leading supplier of corn oil, acidulants, corn gluten meal and corn gluten feed products.

Position Overview

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for the implementation and management of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). This position will be focused on equipment reliability improvements along with other components of the proactive maintenance model that may be assigned as demanded by the needs of the facility. The Reliability Engineer will be a champion for the maintenance and reliability efforts. This position will have an integral role in defect detection and elimination.

Principal Accountabilities

30% Support and lead Reliability Centered Maintenance activities

35% Lead Root Cause Analysis and correction program

15% Work with engineering and OEMs to develop equipment and installation standards

20% Provide process and technical support for the maintenance planners and coordinators



Bachelors Degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or agricultural engineering or related technical discipline.

Three years experience in production, maintenance, or project management.

Training and/or knowledge of management of proactive maintenance model

Demonstrated ability to identify and implement detailed solutions to complex technical problems involving multiple technologies

Advanced computer skills

Strong communication, organization and time management skills.

Demonstrated strong leadership skills

Willingness to challenge status quo


Certified Maintenance Reliability Profession (CMRP) certification

Knowledge of predictive technologies (vibration, infrared, ultrasound, machinery lubrication)

Experience with corn milling equipment and processes
