General Description:
The reliability engineer is a maintenance staff position with the responsibility of improving plant equipment reliability. The position is key to achieving availability targets by analyzing equipment data and implementing measures to eliminate failures. This is accomplished though using pareto analysis, Reliability Teams, Root Cause Analysis, PM routines (PMR) development, and leveraging technology within a condition monitoring program.

The primary objective of the Reliability Engineer is to provide focused analysis and technical direction for plant reliability efforts. This includes the leading the Condition based maintenance activities and developing a formalized reliability program. This must be approached in a structured way that will ensure the plant equipment is operating at a high degree of reliability while meeting budgeted production volumes, quality targets and maintenance budgeted costs. The maintenance of all plant equipment must be performed in a manner that provides reliability in the present while yielding reasonable life cycle costs.

Roles and Responsibilities
Consults with Maintenance Manager in all aspects of plant equipment reliability and function. Oversees all CBM activities within the Maintenance Department. Coordinates shutdown planning and activities Proactively pursues solutions to problem areas utilizing data. Develops a good working relationship with the Operations Department to ensure teamwork. Consults with the Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Planner to ensure the backlog is managed and controlled. Consults with the Maintenance Planner to ensure priorities are properly assigned. Ensures equipment is properly designed for maintainability with a life cycle cost approach Ensures equipment is performing effectively and efficiently Establishes and monitors programs for critical equipment analysis and condition monitoring techniques Reviews the equipment downtime recording system to ensure accuracy. Reviews the equipment downtime data to provide focus on problem areas. Develops plans to eliminate or deal with the chronic issues Provides technical guidance to planner with CMMS administration Reviews spare parts availability and disposition Monitors and oversees the optimization of the spare parts inventory Consults with technicians on technical problems Leads activities of the Reliability Team Monitors the Maintenance Department reliability goals. Leads the FMEA and RCA process and participates in the updates Manages Planners, CBM techs and program Is familiar with the Equipment Condition Assessments and participates in the updates. Reviews the PM Program to ensure proper content and frequency. Becomes familiar with Environmental laws and their effect on the plant equipment and operation Understands the quality targets and is aware of the role maintenance plays in achieving the goals Responsible for continuous improvement process within reliability/M&R group

BS in Engineering ME, EE Two Years of Technical Experience-food production preferred Able to deliver training in the fundamentals of maintenance and reliability process, tools and techniques Able to develop long range road map for CI of maintenance and reliability at a department level Able to lead a group in making data based decisions-challenge the status quo and work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel Strong computer skills Well versed in all aspects of plant safety Able to function as a team member Proficient with Root Cause Analysis Techniques Must possess a high level of verbal and written communication skills Must have good organizational skills Good time management skills Must have the ability to multi-task Must be able to set priorities and evaluate financial impact Effectively communicate with all levels of management
