Under the supervision of the Crisis Services Coordinator, Adult Mental Health Services, interviews individuals (both walk-in and telephone) who may need crisis intervention and/or voluntary or involuntary admission to a local or state hospital. Provides consultation services to local area hospital Emergency Departments.

Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field is required. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required, LMSW preferred. One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) working with persons with mental illness required or one academic year of graduate practicum/internship experience working with persons with mental illness required. One or more years of professional experience in working with serious and persistently mentally ill adults, providing crisis intervention techniques, determining hospital eligibility, performing clinical diagnostic assessments/evaluations, and brief counseling techniques is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and solid computer skills are preferred.

Conditional Employment Requirements:
Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
