Iowa City Press-Citizen Media seeks an experienced journalist to fill a breaking news and city government reporter position. The ideal candidate will consistently and quickly respond to breaking and early morning news, with a focus on writing for the web as well as shooting video. Successful candidate will also possess the versatility to identify a variety of stories from smart daily turns to eye-opening watchdog reports to ensure the Press-Citizen is a leader among competition. We’re looking for a creative, energetic reporter who consistently produces story ideas, writes with a strong voice, can work both independently and collaboratively with a team, and is committed to quality, accurate journalism.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in journalism with proven strong writing skills and at least two years of reporting experience required. Knowledge of video, social media and multimedia tools a plus. Qualified applicants must provide resume, cover letter and five writing clips, and provide links to video upon request.
