The applicant chosen for this position will be responsible for the preparation of custom ELISAs for a variety of antigens. They will also be responsible for the validation of results generated using the custom ELISAs. Because the ELISAs are custom the applicant should be able to develop and plan experiments and resolve unique problems as they arise. The applicant should be able to contribute to the analysis and interpretation of experimental results and to assist in the preparation of manuscripts. The applicant should be of a nature to advance the research mission through the development of innovative solutions to research problems as they arise. The applicant may train lower level personnel. They will be responsible for the use of custom ELISAs generated in the lab to quantify proteins of interest in cerebrospinal fluid, blood serum or blood plasma. They should be able to have several different research projects running simultaneously. They should demonstrate a capacity for coordination of the analysis of multiple temperature sensitive samples using custom designed ELISAs. They should be able to resolve problems using a variety of non-routine, technical research procedures. They will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of results and help prepare manuscripts. The applicant chosen will produce custom combined vertical/lateral flow devices and use those devices to quantify proteins of interest in whole blood samples. They will demonstrate skill and expertise in understanding the chemistry/physics of fluid flow over multiple membranes. They will develop approaches for the solution of unique research questions. They will resolve problems using non-routine technical research procedures. They will contribute to the analysis and interpretation of data and assist in the preparation of manuscripts.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Must have previous experience with producing custom ELISAs. Must have previous experience using ELISAs for analysis of CSF, blood plasma and blood serum. Must have previous experience preparing custom vertical/lateral flow devices and use of the devices.
