The MLB Network Job Description

Position Title: Research Analyst

Position Reports To: VP, Sales Research

Position Summary: Assist in reporting of audience numbers for MLB Network and sports competition

Responsibilities : Focus of this position is to create audience tracks for all major sports programming. This will help us identify audience trends. This person will also create audience tracks and audience profiles for each competing sports network. The profiles, coupled with audience tracks for each competing network, will be used to develop selling points for MLB Network.

This position will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Use Nielsen systems to pull audience data
  • Pull MRI-product usage data
  • Create audience track for each sport (regular season and playoff)
  • Create Sports networks audience profile using Nielsen Market Breaks
  • Create sales pieces –MLB Network advantages versus other networks
  • Assist in liability process – import of ratings into Broadway sales system
  • Produce audience tracks for MLB Network – comparison to rate card estimates
  • Assist with upscale stories and market breaks data
  • Help handle ad hoc requests from sales force
  • Assist in the creation of sales presentations

Skills & Experience : The ideal candidate must have most if not all of the following skills and experiences:
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Proficient with PowerPoint
  • One year of research experience, media background preferred but not required

Education: College degree is required, with a focus in math, statistics, business marketing or media.
