The American Enterprise Institute seeks a full-time research assistant to work for two scholars in the foreign policy department, focusing the majority of their time on AEI’s India and South Asia studies program.

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide research, writing, and administrative support to two scholars who cover US foreign policy. The focus of the position will be working with a scholar studying a wide range of South Asian political, economic and security issues with a focus on India and Pakistan. Key responsibilities will include providing research and written analytical support for both scholars; overseeing long-term projects; conducting basic data analysis; scheduling; handling media requests for scholars; writing for AEI’s blog; managing a small team of interns; developing and organizing conferences, panel discussions, and events; and maintaining contact lists and outreach.

This position requires excellent writing, research, communication, and organization skills. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in foreign and defense policy, basic data analytical competency and, preferably, a focus on South Asia and US-India and US-Pakistan relations. Academic curiosity and an ability to manage competing deadlines are also essential. A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, though not required.
