As a Research Assistant Professor, will be involved in research activities related to Prof. Zhang's research program in asymmetric catalysis. Specifically, will be engaged in research projects on the design and synthesis of chiral porphyrins for metal-catalyzed selective organic transformations, including cobalt-based asymmetric carbene and nitrene transfer reactions. In addition to performing experiments, you are expected to assist Prof. Zhang with writing of research publications and preparation for grant applications. You will also involve the training and supervision of undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral researchers in the laboratory. Additional responsibilities include the safety and maintenance of daily operation of the research laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience):
Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry, and acquired several additional years of postdoctoral training with demonstrated experimental skills and research accomplishments in synthetic organic chemistry.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience):
A successful candidate must have additional experience in asymmetric catalysis, organometallic chemistry and chiral porphyrin synthesis is preferred.
