DESCRIPTION

The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is seeking applicants for a casual Research Assistant position at one of our Brain Imaging Laboratories which performs multimodal neuroimaging research focused on child and adult populations with addictive and co-morbid psychological and psychiatric disorders.

DUTIES

  • Recruitment: Will travel to recruitment sites for networking and attend recruitment events as well as engage in other recruitment activities.
  • Screening, Scheduling, Participant/Family Management: Will conduct telephone screening, follow up with participant communication before, during and after the study, schedule participants' study day, management of study calendar, and greet/usher/navigate participants and families through the study to ensure timely progression through the study procedures and any post study issues that arise.
  • Will provide babysitting for siblings.
  • Documents and Documentation: Will prepare, organize, maintain up to date and otherwise manage all study documents including participant/family packets, questionnaires, other documents, charts, and IRB documents / communication.
  • MRI Scanning: Will perform duties of a scanning RA, which include preparation of participant for MRI scan and stimuli presentation during MRI scanning.
  • Assessment: Will administer psychiatric, psychological, cognitive, and neuropsychological assessments to participants.
  • Research Data: Will organize, process, maintain and analyze clinical, behavioral and MRI data.
  • Communication: Will communicate with other staff within and outside of the institute regarding research program matters.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS in computer science, cognitive science, neuroscience, or biology preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum 1-year experience working or volunteering in a Clinical Research Laboratory with human subjects
  • Mandatory evening/ weekend/ holiday coverage as scheduled on a rotating basis.
  • Spanish language skills in addition to solid command of English.
  • Participation in medical surveillance required.
  • A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR COMMITMENT to the project is required, contingent upon continuous funding.
This position involves regular and substantial contact with children. The successful candidate will be screened through the New York State Central Child Abuse Register prior to assuming any duties that will involve contact with children. There is a $25.00 fee for this service which must be paid by the successful candidate.
