DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the research grant investigator, the incumbent will be involved in two NIH funded laboratory studies assessing the effects of psychoactive drugs on human social behavior and cognition.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include: 1. Coordinate recruitment of drug-abusing participants; 2. Conduct phone screens including information about drug and alcohol use; 3. Schedule appointments and MRIs; 4. Train and test participants in research tasks; 5. Data collection, entry and management, including management of fMRI data; 6. Running fMRI sessions; 7. Assist with preprocessing and basic analysis of fMRI data; 8. Perform electrocardiograms, draw blood samples, perform urine drug screens, take vital signs (will train); and 9. Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree or two years experience in a research laboratory. Will be trained and credentialed to draw blood.
The successful applicant will gain experience and training in research combining fMRI with social neuroscience paradigms and human behavioral pharmacology methods.
One-year commitment required - contingent upon continuous funding. Must be meticulous in carrying out research protocols, able to maintain the highest level of accuracy with minimal supervision, and willing to work some flexible hours, including occasional weekend shifts. Must be familiar with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience using relevant software (SPSS, SPM, Eprime) desirable. Prior experience in an fMRI laboratory preferred.
