DESCRIPTION

An hourly (2 days/week) Research Assistant is needed for 4-6 months to assist with recruitment, scheduling and data collection for two NIH-funded laboratory studies assessing the effects of psychoactive drugs on human social behavior and cognition.

DUTIES

Responsibilities include: 1. Recruit drug-abusing participants; 2. Conduct phone screens including information about drug and alcohol use; 3. Schedule appointments; 4. Train and test participants in research tasks; 5. Undertake data collection, entry and management; 6. Run fMRI and cognitive testing sessions; 7. Perform electrocardiograms, urine drug and pregnancy screens, and take vital signs (will train); 8. Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment; and 9). Other administrative and study-related duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree preferred in psychology or neuroscience or two years experience in a research laboratory.
The successful applicant will gain experience and training in research combining fMRI with social neuroscience paradigms and human behavioral pharmacology methods.
Must be meticulous in carrying out research protocols, able to maintain the highest level of accuracy with minimal supervision, and willing to work some flexible shifts, including some weekend shifts. Must be familiar with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience using relevant software (SPSS, SPM, Eprime) desirable. Prior experience in an fMRI laboratory preferred.
