Research Associate/Sr. RA

A Research Associate/Senior Research Associate position is available within the Antibody Technologies Department to support the discovery of therapeutic antibodies using the phage display technology. The individual will contribute to the design and be responsible for the execution of antibody library selection and screening strategies and for the characterization of selected therapeutic phage antibodies against disease-specific targets. Candidate will have expertise in molecular biology and protein chemistry and have excellent organizational and communication skills and ability to effectively work in a cross-functional department. Experience in protein engineering, including in vitro evolution platforms such as phage display or other display systems is strongly desired.

Function effectively as a part of both functional and cross-functional teams.

Generate therapeutic antibody candidates using phage library panning strategies that enable the selection and characterization of desirable phage-derived antibodies against disease targets.

Execute screening of antibody candidates via target-specific binding and biochemical assays.

Perform DNA sequence analysis of antibodies

Perform small-scale production, purification, and biochemical characterization of antibody fragments.

Troubleshoot complex problems in creative and effective ways; whenever needed, actively participate with innovation and/or optimization of established processes to ensure drug design goals and work plan timelines are met.

Make detailed observations, compile and summarize complex and large data sets, prepare reports, and present conclusions at group, departmental, and project team meetings.

Document procedures and data in laboratory notebooks regularly, detailing experimental purpose/design/results

Work independently with moderate supervision.

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
B.S. with 3+ years relevant experience or M.S. with 1+ years relevant experience in protein engineering and/or protein biochemistry. Job level will be determined based on experience level of the candidate.

Expertise in general molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, sequence analysis, ELISA, western blot, etc.) is required.

Experience with phage display or other in vitro evolution platform is desired but not required.

Experience with screening and assay development by flow cytometry and/or ELISA is desired.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
