BioPhase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for San Diego's Scientific community. We are currently looking for a Research Associate to work for a leading San Diego biotechnology company.
Interact with the analytical chemistry department to develop/qualify methods for small molecule characterization/quantification
Carry out routine sample processing for required analytical methods and conduct routine analysis following SOPs
Develop new or improve existing methods/tests/assays as required to support programs
Prepare laboratory notebooks, technical reports and SOPs covering research.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelorâ€™s degree in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or related life science discipline.
Essential experience and job requirements:
Must be motivated, possess good interpersonal skills, communicate well within and between teams and be able to work to tight deadlines; Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task effectively will be key.
Experience with extraction of analytes from biological material.
Broad background knowledge of analytical chemistry and/or biochemistry
Ability to exercise independent judgment in developing methods and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
Ability to work in a high-throughput environment
Routinely track and document results in laboratory notebooks and databases
Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
Requires good teamwork, communication and data handling skills
Hands-on development experience in experimental design, sample preparation/extraction and chromatography
Experience in environmental sample preparation/extraction and instrumental analyses
Experience in polymer, industrial chemical, biofuels, flavor/fragrance, pharmaceutical or petroleum analyses
Familiarity with statistical methods for data analysis and design-of-experiments
Familiarity with establishment of reference standards and reference materials
Energetic, highly self-motivated and able to work efficiently and productively
Provide assistance with experimental design, data analysis, troubleshoot laboratory experiments and present results and conclusions at laboratory meetings.
Demonstrated commitment to safety in the job environment
Desirable criteria & qualifications:
Experience in small molecule characterization/quantification is desired.
Familiarity with the fundamentals of Synthetic and/or Systems Biology
Knowledgeable in routine/preventative maintenance and trouble-shooting of analytical instrumentation
Analysis, QC and interpretation of results using databases and software analysis tools to optimize reconstructed or synthetic pathways.
