Research Associate (in vivo)
Vivarium/laboratory bench position to support ongoing in vivo biology research efforts. Background in multiple therapeutic areas and hands-on experience with in-vivo disease models (cancer and other areas) highly desirable. Responsibilities include xenograft tumor modeling, bioluminescent imaging, ultrasound imaging, processing samples, data analysis, assisting with model development and technical reports as well as validating new protocols. In vitro experience on cell biology and biochemistry is a plus. Opportunity to conduct research and development in a fast-paced, highly dynamic team oriented environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute non-clinical in vivo efficacy and PK/PD studies to evaluate the efficacy and pharmacologic dose response of drug development candidates in relevant animal models. Duties to include gross physical examinations, model establishment, blood and tissue collection, administration of medications, euthanasia and necropsy.
Bioluminescent imaging support (incl. image analysis, data generation) for ongoing preclinical studies. Ultrasound imaging experience is a plus.
With supervision â€“ design and prepare nonclinical protocols and organize, analyze and interpret efficacy data and prepare nonclinical study reports and summaries (in appropriate corporate format).
Harvest and process tissue samples for ex vivo analysis (fluorescent imaging, protein/RNA extraction, etc)
Prepare and maintain laboratory notebooks and appropriate data files.
Responsible for preparing reagents and chemical solutions (as needed).
Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and provide input/feedback on experimental study design and subsequent data interpretation.
Comply with established company policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety and environmental standards.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Pharmacology Director.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment and adapt to change.
Flexibility to adjust work schedule to accommodate varying study workloads.
Ability to participate in holiday and weekend rotational staffing as needed.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend and remain standing for several hours throughout the day.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelors with a minimum 8+ years or Masters Degree with a minimum 5+ years in an appropriate biological discipline leading to a college level understanding of mammalian physiology, such as: biology, biological sciences, biochemistry, physiology, or pharmaceutical sciences, physiology/pharmacology related in vivo laboratory environment.
Direct, hands-on, small animal handling experience (incl. mice) required. Additional experience working with cancer/diabetes/inflammation model highly desirable.
