We are currently seeking an experienced Scientist with biological sciences background for our Dako North America office in Carpinteria, CA to work within the field of Companion Diagnostics (pharmDx).

Job Summary

Work in a dynamic environment in the field of Oncology!

Plan and execute experiments to develop pharmDx (Companion Diagnostic) IHC assays in the pharmDx business area. Participate as key contributor in project teams. Facilitate transfer of completed development projects into products. Write/review packaging materials, improve established product reagents/protocols. Generate required documentation/procedures. Evaluate/optimize test methods, new antibodies/reagents. Maintain laboratory notebook, provide customers/co-worker technical support.Keeps abreast of relevant literature and publications in the area Computer literate including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Analytical, creative and works well in a team environment.



Perform studies as described and detailed in existing documents.

Participate in clinical studies.

Participate in evaluating and reporting results including troubleshooting.

With training and coaching,

increasing understanding of histology and pathology,especially in Oncology and relevant Biomarkers.

Able to do internal and external presentations.

Design and conduct studies with little guidance.

Writes general protocols and reports, conduct successful studies including troubleshooting (Stability; short Tech Reports etc) and publications

General understanding of histology and pathology and can train others to follow assay protocols.

Education and/or Experience


BS or advanced degree in biological sciences

3-5years relevant experience (product development/assay development/IHC/ISH).

Industry experience preferred.

Other Qualifications


Good understanding of histology and pathology.

Demonstrated experience in cell biology methods such as western blot, cell biology, flow cytometry

Ability to lead teams with some guidance.

Broad base of general biology knowledge and laboratory experience

Able to organize and conduct internal presentations (external presentations desired but not required).

Ability to train others to follow assay protocols.

Mathematical (algebra and basic statistics) and computer (MS Office) skills
