New York City Labor Market Information Service Full-Time Research Associate Position Opening The New York City Labor Market Information Service (NYCLMIS), housed at the Center for Urban Research at the CUNY Graduate Center, is looking for a research associate to work as part of a team that performs labor market research, prepares information tools, and provides strategic consultation for a wide audience. The overall function of the NYCLMIS is to provide policy makers and education and workforce service providers with intelligence so that they can better align their activities with the realities of the local labor market. NYCLMIS seeks a research associate who will: * Conduct interviews and literature reviews; * Interpret and analyze labor market data and other sources of information; * Write research reports and develop research tools; * Present on themes related to the NYC labor market; and * Provide research-related technical assistance to workforce development and educational professionals in city agencies, labor unions, employer associations, neighborhood organizations and to CUNY colleagues.

Core Competencies/Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Strong writing, oral communication, interviewing, and interpersonal * Proficiency with quantitative data analysis using statistical and/ or relational database applications; skills; * Ability to analyze and translate complex material (including quantitative data) so it is understood by a variety of stakeholder groups; * Excellent proficiency with MS Office Suite; and * Demonstrated independence, problem solving and persistence in a work setting. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Familiarity with NYC's social service delivery systems; * Academic background in sociology, public policy, labor economics or a related field; and * Familiarity with and strong interest in workforce development policies and programs.
