USC's Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry is seeking a highly motivated scientist to participate in NIH funded project examining the molecular biology and mechanisms of action of natural products on infectious diseases. Job Accountabilities: Plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor. Identifies, researches, compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and/or technology related to area of specialization. Researches, gathers, organizes and summarizes data for reports. Analyzes data for trends or conclusions and presents results and recommendations to supervisor. Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records Operates and maintains sophisticated laboratory/scientific equipment Interpret data and document results Develop and evaluate new procedures, methods Provide support and or advice to others on technical issues Maintain and guarantee the integrity of scientific data The University of Southern California values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in employment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate

Minimum Experience:
1 year

Minimum Field of Expertise:
Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education:
Preference will be given to candidates with dual degrees, where one degree is a professional level degree (DDS, MD and their equivalents) and the other, a PhD (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a relative field of biomedical science.

Preferred Experience:
Demonstrate ability to generate independent research reports and publications. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural team

Preferred Field of Expertise:
Examine the molecular biology and mechanisms of action of natural products on infectious diseases.
