USC's Institute for Creative Technologies, located in Playa Vista, is seeking a Research Associate to join its Virtual Reality Medical group. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation, experience with the design, implementation, and analysis of experimental trials, experience in game development, experience in a clinical rehabilitation setting, excellent verbal and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Preferred technical skills include: Programming and design of virtual reality programs using the Unity game engine User testing with clinical and healthy populations Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, clinicians and computer scientists Programming the Microsoft Kinect The Research Associate plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor. Analyzes research data and provides interpretations. Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records. Job Accountabilities: Plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor. Identifies, researches, compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and/or technology related to area of specialization. Analyzes and evaluates research data utilizing computers and provides interpretations requiring significant knowledge of a specialized area of research. Searches literature, utilizing all available resources including electronic, regarding new methodology and designs experiments accordingly. Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate
Minimum Field of Expertise:
Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuropsychology, or a related field
Experience with programming and design of virtual reality programs using the Unity game engine Experience in user testing with clinical and healthy populations Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, clinicians and computer scientists Experience programming the Microsoft Kinect Experience creating 3D art assets
Preferred Field of Expertise:
Expertise in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation and in the design, implementation, and analysis of experimental trials
