The UNM Clinical & Translational Science Center (CTSC) is hiring a Research Coordinator for the Clinical Research Unit (CRU). The mission of the CRU is to facilitate the performance of clinical research so as to translate basic research into patient care and to participate in developing new therapies. The CRU is located in the CTSC building on the UNM Health Sciences Center campus. This newly renovated building is designed to provide an optimal setting for medical investigators to conduct safe, controlled, state-of-the-art, in-patient and outpatient studies of children and adults by offering expertise of research nurses and coordinators, a laboratory core, as well as administrative assistance. Researchers/investigators with projects funded from the NIH, other Federal agencies, state and local entities, the private sector, or other peer-reviewed sources are eligible to use the CRU. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the research studies in accordance with established study protocols and in accordance with federal, local and institutional policies and guidelines for clinical trials, research study management and monitoring. Specific duties will include recruitment, enrollment and scheduling of research subjects; establishing and maintaining budgets and fiscal controls for the project; developing and maintaining record keeping systems and procedures. Drawing and processing blood will be required for some studies. Funding available through 6/30/2013; continuance beyond that date is subject to the Department's operational needs as outlined in UBPPM #E3200, Employee Classifications. The CTSC grant is currently in the third year of a 5-year award. The CTSC plans to submit a competitive renewal application in 2014. This is a benefits eligible position. Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Experience in (must be detailed in your resume): Coordinating Clinical Trials Recruiting patients to participate in research studies Preparing applications and other documents for submission to an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or direct experience in IRB Administration Drawing and processing blood May be required to work flex hours, as required by study May need to drive offsite to see patients, as required by study protocol Ability to write clear, concise and detailed documents utilizing medical terminology (Please refer to "TO APPLY" section of employment posting for instructions on how to submit required writing sample)

Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire.
