Imagination Publishing is currently seeking a Research Editor. We are seeking someone that is detailed-oriented, preferably with prior fact-checking experience. We place a high priority on rigorously fact-checking stories to ensure accuracy, fairness, and proper context. Additionally, the Research Editor will assist our new business development team with research and preparation for new client pitches.
Responsibilities include:
Examine copy for accuracy, checking all factual information, quotes and statistics
Manage fact-checking process across all publications and projects
Manage other fact-checking staff members, including contract and intern resources
May assist in reading page proofs and help with the end-stage preparations for each issue
Fulfill requests for background or primary research
Plan and execute effective search strategies
Ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelors degree in English, Journalism or a related discipline
One year of relevant work or internship experience required
Basic copyediting skills, including reading text for spelling, style, proper word usage and grammar
Ability to work well under pressure, complete tasks efficiently and handle tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
