RESEARCH ENGINEER, Sociotechnical Systems Research Center (SSRC) (part-time, 50%), to guide and integrate the efforts of a team of students working on the VA-funded 2013 IDIQ project. This project focuses on research behind developing, implementing and evaluating strategies to maximize VA support to veterans. Research topics may include behavioral health research, consultation and program management of veteran assistance and workplace wellness initiatives, and telehealth and medical services. Major responsibilities will include project management, mentoring student projects, documentation reviews, and maintaining relationship with sponsor. May also organize meetings, ensure that documentation and websites are accurate/current, interface with external collaborators, collaborate on developing implementation methodologies or tools, and publish research results.

REQUIREMENTS: a Ph.D. in a related field; at least five years' experience in areas such as industry-university research, managing research and/or development projects, leading (or executive leading a research or development effort; success working in a dynamic, closely-knit team environment; experience in collaborative, project-based research with a diverse set of stakeholders and demonstrated technical expertise; demonstrated ability to independently generate and develop concepts and conduct research; significant contributions to research projects through unique scholarly effort or other technical contributions; clear and effective written and verbal communication skills; experience advising junior researchers, postdocs, and/or graduate researchers; and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Medical and/or behavioral healthcare experience a plus, as is experience dealing with enterprise issues as a peer of enterprise leaders or involvement in executive decisions. Demonstrated experience with enterprise architecting design and transformation and performance improvement preferred. Someone conversant in lean principles and practices, six sigma methods, and continuous improvement methodologies also preferred. MIT-00009477
