We are seeking for a Ph.D. level Entomologist with a strong background in studying the impact of insect control molecules on phytophagous insect pests including an understanding of resistance management and evolution. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists from multiple disciplines to support discovery of next generation insect control solutions and sustainable use of commercialized insect-trait products. Specific duties of the successful candidate include: The design, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory, greenhouse, and field experimentation aimed toward advancement and sustainability of biotech approaches for insect pest management, The candidate will also work collaboratively within and beyond our cross functional organization to maintain and foster key academic alliances and research collaborations.
Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in Entomology or a related discipline with experience in laboratory or field including an understanding of transgenic approaches for insect control. A solid understanding of insect biology, insect resistance management, population genetics, and statistics is required. The individual should be a self-starter and able to rapidly synthesize a broad range of information into a scientific approach. The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong experimental design capability, the ability to question the status quo appropriately, and capacity to work in a cross functional work culture. Excellent writing, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently are required

Desired skills/education/experience/attributes (ideal candidate):

An ideal candidate is a Ph.D. level scientist, with post-doctoral or equivalent experience. The individual will have led laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments that address insect specific research questions pertaining to transgenic cropping systems including insect resistance management. The individual will have a broad understanding of current and future trends for transgenic options for pest insect management. The individual will be a self-starter able to synthesize a broad range of information into a scientific approach including the development of novel approaches for the study of insecticide resistance evolution and management. Excellent writing, communication, and teamwork skills as well as proficiency with database applications, experimental design, and statistical analyses are necessary.
