Come help lead a diverse and collaborative team of researchers who work directly with product design to make the best social platform for Facebook's 1 billion users. Our research ranges from identifying market opportunities to assessing the usability of interfaces and our team interfaces with business partners, product managers, marketers, designers, content strategists and engineers. We are responsible for inspiring design, improving the user experience, understanding our users, developers and advertisers, and helping to unlock the potential of Facebook.

As a Research Manager, you will contribute to the strategy and operations of the overall Research team, as well as create and execute the research strategy for the product areas you cover. You will be responsible for mentoring researchers and ensuring that their work is timely, impactful and relevant. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both market research and user experience research as well as social media, good product instincts, a creative approach to research, and a bold, entrepreneurial attitude. This position reports into the Director of Design and UX. Responsibilities
Manage and develop a team of researchers. This requires setting clear goals, managing the project load and allocating people accordingly, ensuring deadlines are met, and setting up team members for overall success Work cross-functionally with Design, Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Advertising, and other key business stakeholders to incorporate research and insights at all stages Seek opportunities to raise awareness of user needs and perceptions – representing and evangelizing the team's charter, both internally and externally Understand our key constituents, the market, and areas of opportunity for Facebook Deliver actionable research insights that make the Facebook user experience better, in measurable ways Thrive in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment Requirements
3+ years managing a research team - preferably in a fast paced, high-technology environment 7-10 years conducting user experience research and/or market research – with an excellent command of both qualitative and quantitative methods Excellent written and verbal communication Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously Experience working with design and product teams Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, or a related field
