DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking a Research Measurement Analyst to join our team. The Research Measurement Analyst is responsible for analyzing data and developing methods to assess the ability of examinees to apply medical knowledge, skills, and understanding of clinical science essential for the provision of patient care. The selected candidate will specifically be engaged in research and development to improve the assessment of communication skills within the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).

DUTIES

Conduct and interpret sophisticated statistical analyses to identify and refine methods to assess clinical skills.
Communicate analytical results and recommendations.
Use of creativity and innovation to analyze existing processes and propose solutions to measurement problems in support of the assessment.
Research that includes review of data sets, observation of live encounters and review of digital recordings.
Consult with physicians and medical educators to develop and review cases to ensure that they are accurate and appropriate.
Developing and providing training to standardized patients and physicians on scoring guidelines to ensure rater consistency.

Participate in an ongoing mechanism of quality control to ensure that the examination is fair and consistent in portrayal and scoring.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate should have a Master's degree and 1-3 years of experience conducting research design work. A working knowledge of measurement theory for test development and evaluation is preferred. The following skills are further required:

Ability to conceptualize and explore problems from a broader perspective;

Demonstrated ability to improve processes
High level of critical thinking skills, quantitative skills and logical reasoning ability;
Attentive to detail;
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously;
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Solid knowledge of and experience with SPSS (or other similar statistical software) used to conduct complex statistical analyses;
Solid knowledge of Access and/or Excel (or other similar applications) for data manipulation and/or database management;
Familiarity with experimental research and design;
Experience with large databases and SQL;
Knowledge of survey development and design;
A background in a quantitative social science is preferred.
