Qualifications Summary:
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in related field and at least one year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a licensed RN or LVN in the state of California. Must maintain a current, valid CA driver’s license and current, valid vehicle insurance.

Job Description Summary:
Primary duties will include the following: Drawing blood from subjects (phlebotomy), and basic first aid for subjects when necessary (i.e., a subject faints from blood draw and first aid such as blood pressure, smelling salts, cold compress, and possible check for head trauma should they fall - basic functioning assessment). Secondary duties will include the following: Alliquoting blood, urine, and saliva samples. Spinning blood samples in a centrifuge. Draining whole blood through a filter, then pushing PBQ and RNA Later through the filter. Placing all processed samples (alliquoted, spun, and/or filtered) into dry ice bins. Setting up lab station at the start of each day, and cleaning and breaking down lab station at the end of each day. Re-stocking lab station as needed. Preparing biohazard trash from station at designated disposal times. Maintaining a clean and functional lab station and person according to OSHA and VA universal safety standards. Travels to various locations within San Diego County and use own vehicle. May perform additional duties as required. May perform additional duties as required.
