As a member of the Analysis and Output Unit of the New York State Cancer Registry, the incumbent will help the unit compile and publish statistics and reports describing the burden of cancer in New York State. The incumbent will also assist with ongoing research studies with outside investigators; maintain and monitor ongoing external research studies; participate in quality assurance activities; fulfill data requests submitted to the New York State Cancer Registry; assist with the translation of diagnostic and procedure codes between coding systems; maintain population and demographic reference files for use in cancer surveillance; and assist with other professional activities as needed/assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related field, and one year of research experience; OR a Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate field and two years of research experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with SAS and Access databases; strong communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities; strong data management skills; familiarity with Internation Classification of Disease (ICD) 9, National Drug Code (NDC), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and medical claims a plus.
