Minimum Qualifications :
A Bachelor’s degree in biology, epidemiology, public health or a related field and two years of research experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field and one year of research experience .
Preferred Qualifications :
Strong organizational, project management and data analysis skills. Knowledge and experience in infectious disease epidemiology and/or hospital infection prevention and control (preferably CIC) and in conducting surveillance activities/research to reduce healthcare-associated infections in select settings and for targeted infections. Proficiency using MS Office applications and SAS to enter and analyze data. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to apply and adapt to various audiences and settings.
The incumbent will coordinate enrollment of the NYS Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) long term care facility (LTCF) Collaborative participants; preparing educational/training materials, and planning/conducting webinars focused on HAI prevention including use of the National Healthcare Safety Network for surveillance and CDI reporting; ensuring the completeness and accuracy of CDI LabID event data reported; executing data analyses to assess the relationship between infection rates, risk factors, and infection prevention efforts; preparing reports/presentations detailing Project aims, methods and analytic results; reviewing and triaging incoming nosocomial outbreak reports; conducting investigations of outbreaks and providing consultations/technical assistance to healthcare facilities/public health partners; preparing reports for healthcare facilities, the Department, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and assisting in other projects as assigned. Occasional travel to healthcare facilities may also be required.
Conditions of Employment :
Temporary, grant funded position through July 31, 2014 (anticipated).
Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
