This position is responsible for research, development and customer support for the use of P2S5, P4, phosphoric acid and phosphate salts as used in industrial applications, including engine oil additives, water treatment, and various others. This position will include the responsibility of meeting with customers to understand their needs and issues related to the product, applications, packaging, handling, safety, etc.
Provide technical support to customers on the use of various phosphates in applications such as engine oil additives, water treatment and other technical applications.
For each product supported, develop and implement a laboratory program to expand knowledge of its chemical and physical properties, address application performance issues, improve product quality, and provide a basis for new material grades, product analogs and customer applications.
Work closely with our manufacturing organization to identify and resolve product quality issues, product specifications and changes in process which might impact product performance.
Work closely with ICL marketing and sales organization to maintain or grow existing business including updating technical literature used for customer support and marketing purposes.
Be a product steward for all products to assure their proper use and disposal, in accordance with all applicable safety and regulatory guidelines.
Provide safety training and participate in industry organizations.
Participate in industry trade associations and liaison with government agencies as appropriate to support these objectives.
PhD in Chemistry or related field with coursework in inorganic and/or organic chemistry, chemical reaction kinetics and thermodynamics.
Knowledge of the chemistry and industrial applications of elemental phosphorus and derivative compounds, phosphorus pentasulfide, phosphoric acid and phosphate salts preferred.
Excellent laboratory skills including handling reactive chemicals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must have excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to contribute in a team setting.
Experience in the water treatment industry, highly desirable.
Must be able to travel approximately 30-40%.
