The Research Specialist is an entry level position. The employee will obtain via on the job training, a basic knowledge of either, but not limited to, Fixed Income, Structured and International Securities using the various internal applications used to research and update data pertaining to these securities. During the first year, the following skills and functions are expected of the employee:
How to read, understand and amend data items from a prospectus or any viable source.
Navigation of the applications pertaining to each perspective team.
Understanding basic data terms and terminology related to setup and maintenance of various asset types.
Understanding the workflow of assigned function and ensure the completeness, timeliness and accuracy of the task at hand.
Develop working knowledge of external and internal data sources (i.e. various websites, internet searches)
Develop a good working relationship with internal and external sources.
Ability to answer basic questions regarding client data queries
Awareness of production deadlines
Participates in Product Training when provided
Demonstrates a high level of commitment and maintains effectiveness in a changing environment.
Ability to work from home accessing Citrix when needed by business
College degree preferred, but not required
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work in a team environment and assist others
Ability to work under time constraints
Ability to work well independently and or under minimal supervision
Strong PC skills, including Excel and Word applications
Basic knowledge of the financial information industry preferred, but not required
