The Research Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in conducting research, compiling and proofreading results, preparing related reports that summarize findings, and managing databases.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research to include: assisting in designing instruments, such as surveys, focus groups, or interviews; selecting samples; receiving, compiling, and coding responses and related data; and, preparing reports regarding research findings

Respond to inquires from College departments, the media, and the public regarding policies and procedures or other information about the institution

Develop and maintain various informational databases; developing report formats; generating reports from databases upon request from administrators, faculty, staff, and community organizations

Gather, coordinate, and review data for various internal and external reports; creating related tables and graphs using applicable computer software packages

Assist in the publication and distribution of institutional research reports, other college documents, and maintains departmental web pages

Provides administrative support to the Executive Director including scheduling, travel arrangements and filing

Provides oversight of project database, office inventory, business processes, reception area, incoming calls, and departmental email

Assist in developing and monitoring the departmental budget which includes: tracking expenditures; developing and producing departmental financial reports; and, advising supervisor of issues requiring immediate attention

Train other employees on various computer programs and research techniques

Perform other duties of a similar nature or level

Job Requirements

Associate's Degree in a related area

Two years of related research experience

OR

Candidates who possess similar, minimum objective qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education you regard as establishing the equivalency

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree is a related area

Using computers and applicable software applications

Mathematical principles

Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment

Research instrument design principles

Customer service principles

Data collection principles; gathering, compiling and organizing data

Conducting research

Evaluating and summarizing research findings

Monitoring inventory

Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
