The Research Specialist coordinates all aspects of a research study under the supervision of the investigator and nurse coordinator for the Pulmonary Department. This position will be responsible for pulmonary research functions as assigned at both the Oaks pulmonary satellite and TUH pulmonary research office. Responsibilities include: Planning and implementation of study processes and procedures as required by the study protocol; Collection, documentation, and input of study data; Communication of study information to potential and current study patients and sponsors; Act as liaison with research staff and the research nurse coordinator; Conduct patient interviews; Review eligibility criteria on potential patients; Explain purpose of study and obtain written consent for patient to participate; Perform study-required procedures as delegated by the Investigator for laboratory analysis, preparation and shipping of specimens; Maintain inventory of unique drugs and supplies needed for study. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least two years of directly related experience providing research support. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must be able to occasionally travel to Oaks, PA Pulmonary office
*Must be able to work occasional off shift work as dictated by protocol.
*Ability to use centrifuge, process lab specimens and perform spirometry.
*Must be able to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS office.
*Must have excellent customer service skills with the ability to work with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
*Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Must be able to assist in the resolution of complex issues.
*Make independent judgment within the guidelines of specific studies.
*Able to apply technical/scientific knowledge to the study.
*Must be able to independently handle assignments or small projects.
*Experience in a clinical setting.
*Experience in Research.
*Experience in a pulmonary setting.
