Qualifications Summary:
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent and at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a licensed psychologist with graduate and internship training from an APA accredited institution or a doctoral student in an approved VA/UCSD/SDSU psychology training program, or a clinical Social Worker, or a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT).

Job Description Summary:
Will interview participants to obtain information concerning medical history other pertinent information, and provide weekly individual psychotherapy (prolonged exposure therapy, PE) to veterans in either individual (one-one-one) meetings in person or via telemedicine. Will receive training in PE (4 day training) if needed and in telemedicine. Will attend weekly one hour group consultation meetings and keep progress notes for each visit in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Will complete other study questionnaires (e.g., on treatment alliance and satisfaction) periodically. Will work with study coordinators to schedule sessions with study subjects and to resolve any study-related challenges. Will observe client to detect indications of abnormal physical or mental behavior. Will review results of assigned therapy "homework" to evaluate client needs. Will plan and administer therapeutic treatment to assist subject with current problems. Will change method and degree of therapy when indicated by client reactions. Will discuss progress toward goals with client such as controlling symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Will consult with medical doctor or other specialists concerning treatment plan and amends plan as directed. May perform other duties as required.
