Job Description:
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute is an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children, and is part of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania research community.

The Research Assistant I position is in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Deardorff in the Genetics Research Division. This position requires a commitment of two (2) years.
The Deardorff laboratory studies the role of cohesion in pediatric genetic disorders. The lab is currently developing cellular and animal models that will assess ways of potentially treating children with mutations in this protein complex.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Genetics. GPA for undergraduate and graduate must be entered on the profile and on the CV/resume. Applicants who fail to adhere to the above requests will not be considered.

Interested individuals must send a cover letter, CV/resume and letters of recommendation from past supervisors/faculty advisors or mentors that can attest to skills and abilities.
The ideal candidate must have lab experience with PCR, subcloning, cell culture, western blotting and strong computer skills (MS Office, Photoshop, sequence analysis software) required. Mouse experience considered favorably. In addition lab equipment skills in tissue culture, PCR, electrophoresis and western blotting.
